Are you a dedicated and passionate Sign Language Interpreter looking for an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on a student's educational journey? We have a rewarding full-time position available for the 2023-2024 school year at a school near McCord, Oklahoma.
Position Overview: As a Sign Language Interpreter, you will play a crucial role in facilitating effective communication between a Deaf or hard-of-hearing student and their teachers and peers. Your role will be instrumental in ensuring that the student can access and participate fully in the educational environment.
Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction.
- Provide support for the student in various classes, including but not limited to English, math, science, and social studies.
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive learning environment for the student.
- Collaborate with teachers, educational staff, and parents to ensure the student's educational goals are met.
- Maintain accurate records of your interpreting services and the student's progress.
Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with Deaf culture.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the unique needs of the student.
- Experience in an educational setting is preferred but not required.
