Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Oakley, NC area

Soliant is looking to hire Sign Language Interpreters to work with a partner school district in the Oakley, NC area. 
As an Educational Interpreter, you will provide interpreting services to a high-school student in a Vocational/Transitional program.

Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality sign language interpreting services for students with hearing impairments in educational settings.
• Facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students, teachers, and other educational staff.
• Assist in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students.
• Adapt interpreting techniques to meet the specific needs and preferences of each student.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other professionals to ensure effective communication and inclusion of students.
• Maintain accurate records of interpreting services provided and student progress.

Qualifications:

• Familiarity with CASE (Conceptually Accurate Signed English)
• Certification as an Educational Interpreter (e.g., EIPA 3.5+, NIC, RID)
• IBSE approval as an interpreter, or ability to acquire before school begins
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, teachers, and staff
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic educational environment
• Prior experience working with students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing is preferred
• Knowledge of special education laws and practices is an asset

This is a full-time position, following the school calendar schedule. 
Competitive and negotiable hourly rate in addition to travel pay will be determined based on experience of applicant and travel expenses.
W2 contracted position for the 2023/2024 year, with renewals available if desired.
