Job Description:
As a Full-Time American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter at BlazerJobs, you will be an integral part of our mission to provide inclusive and effective communication support to students with hearing impairments within our school district. Your expertise in ASL will play a crucial role in ensuring students have equal access to education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and educational materials from spoken language to ASL and vice versa.
- Facilitate communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their peers, teachers, and school staff.
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure effective communication in the classroom and during school activities.
- Provide one-on-one or small group interpreting services as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interpreting assignments.
Requirements:
- Certification as an American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter.
- Proficiency in ASL and a strong understanding of Deaf culture.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Dedication to ensuring equal access to education for students with hearing impairments.
- Ability to adapt to diverse educational settings and assignments.
