In this full-time role, you will play a critical part in ensuring that deaf and hard-of-hearing students have equal access to education.

Job Description:

As a Sign Language Interpreter, you will provide essential interpretation services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in educational settings. Your responsibilities will include:

• Facilitating effective communication between students, teachers, and peers by interpreting spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa.
• Supporting students in both classroom and extracurricular activities.
• Collaborating with teachers and other educational professionals to create an inclusive learning environment.
• Adhering to ethical and professional standards of practice.
• Providing guidance on deaf culture and resources to enhance students' understanding.
• Maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity to the needs of students and their families.

Qualifications:

• Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (e.g., RID certification) preferred.
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
• Experience working with deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, adaptability, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive educational environment.
