Full-Time Sign Language Interpreter in Springfield, OH

Procare Therapy is seeking a dedicated and skilled Full-Time Sign Language Interpreter to join our team for the 2023-2024 school year in Springfield, Ohio. As a Sign Language Interpreter, you will play a vital role in facilitating effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and staff within an educational environment.

Responsibilities:

• Provide sign language interpreting services for students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing, ensuring accurate and clear communication.
• Assist students in understanding and engaging with classroom instruction, discussions, and activities.
• Collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to ensure an inclusive and supportive educational experience for all students.
• Adapt interpreting techniques to match the communication needs of each student and the academic content being covered.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions and interpretations.
• Participate in school meetings, workshops, and professional development opportunities as required.

Qualifications:

• Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (e.g., RID certification or equivalent) is required.
• Experience working as a sign language interpreter in an educational setting is preferred.
• Strong understanding of educational environments and the needs of students with hearing impairments.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with students, teachers, parents, and staff.
• Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English.
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to providing high-quality interpreting services.
