Blazerjobs is thrilled to announce a full-time opening for a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) in partnership with the Marshall School District. We are seeking a dedicated and skilled SLI to join our team and provide essential communication support to students with hearing impairments. As an SLI, you will play a vital role in ensuring that students have equal access to education and are able to communicate effectively. Responsibilities:

Facilitate communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their peers, teachers, and other school staff
Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities using American Sign Language (ASL) or other appropriate sign systems
Assist students in understanding and expressing themselves in the classroom and during school-related activities
Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure that educational goals and objectives are met
Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with hearing impairments
Provide sign language interpretation for meetings, events, and extracurricular activities as needed
Maintain confidentiality of student information and adhere to ethical and professional standards
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in American Sign Language (ASL) or related field
Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (e.g., RID certification) preferred but not required
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of other sign systems
Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational setting is preferred
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Patience, flexibility, and adaptability to meet the unique needs of each student
Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, students, and parents
Adherence to ethical and professional standards in the field of sign language interpretation
