Hiring Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Roanoke, OH area

Soliant has partnered with a school district in the Roanoke, OH area to hire a Sign Language Interpreter for the 2023/2024 school-year

Requirements: 

• Must have 3.5 EIPA or higher, flexible with lower EIPA scores if applicant has previous experience AND is willing to retake the exam within a specified time. 
• Relevant, school setting experience is preferred but not required
• Associates degree or higher preferred but not required 
• Ability to produce 2 previous supervisor references
• Ability to pass background check 
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, teachers, and staff
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)

Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality sign language interpreting services for 1 deaf student.
• Full Time 
• Full school year
• Working 1:1 with middle school student
  • Student has limited sign language skill, is emergent, and uses AAC as well as sign
  • Spends most of days in Gen Ed classroom settings
• Facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing student, teachers, and other educational staff.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other professionals to ensure effective communication and inclusion of student.
