Now Hiring: Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) in Tilton, IL Area
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate School-Based Sign Language Interpreter to join our educational team. The interpreter will facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and others, ensuring equal access to educational opportunities and fostering an inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa for students in various educational settings.
- Support students during classroom instruction, activities, and school events.
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to ensure the student’s needs are met.
- Assist in the preparation of educational materials as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to the ethical standards of the interpreting profession.
Qualifications:
- Certification in Sign Language Interpretation (RID/NAD or equivalent).
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
- Previous experience working in an educational setting preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
