Part Time Summer SLI Needed for a School District in Lake Zurich, IL

Blazerworks, in partnership with the local school district in Lake Zurich, Illinois, is seeking a skilled and passionate Sign Language Interpreter for a part-time position. As a Sign Language Interpreter, you will play a vital role in facilitating effective communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their peers, teachers, and staff members. Responsibilities:

• Provide sign language interpretation services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in various educational settings, including classrooms, assemblies, and extracurricular activities.
• Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa, ensuring accurate and effective communication.
• Adapt interpreting style and techniques to meet the individual needs of students and ensure their full participation in academic and social activities.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other professionals to support students' access to educational content and promote inclusivity.
• Stay updated on best practices, current trends, and advancements in sign language interpreting.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics and standards in the field of interpreting.

Qualifications:

• Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and English.
• Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter or equivalent qualification.
• Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate effective communication between individuals with hearing impairments and others.
• Knowledge of educational systems, classroom dynamics, and educational terminology.
• Ability to adapt quickly to different environments and effectively manage time.
