Pediatric Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) w/ Benefits- Newark, CA Area
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate sign language interpretation for classroom instruction and school activities.
- Assist students in understanding classroom materials and discussions.
- Interpret during meetings, school events, and extracurricular activities.
- Work collaboratively with teachers to adapt instructional materials for deaf or hard-of-hearing students.
- Support the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards.
Required Qualifications:
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (RID, NIC, or state certification).
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
- Previous experience in an educational setting is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with students, teachers, and staff.
- Understanding of deaf culture and the needs of deaf or hard-of-hearing students.
