School District in Huntsville, AL - Sign Language Interpreter (SLI)

Blazerworks is currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) for the upcoming school year in Huntsville, AL. The SLI will provide communication support to students in an elementary school setting.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide sign language interpretation services to students with hearing impairments
• Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, and other school staff
• Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and other educational activities in sign language
• Assist students in understanding and expressing themselves using sign language
• Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to ensure the student's educational needs are met
• Maintain accurate records of interpretation sessions and related documentation

Requirements:

• Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) or equivalent qualification
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with different sign language systems
• Experience working as a sign language interpreter in an educational setting (preferred)
• Knowledge of educational practices and terminology
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with students, teachers, and other professionals
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, for the duration of the school year from July 26, 2023, to May 24, 2024. Blazerworks offers full-time benefits, competitive weekly pay, and an advisory team to provide ongoing support and guidance.
