School Sign Language Interpreter Job near Norfolk, VA

ProCare Therapy has teamed up with a school district near Norfolk, Virginia to hire a full-time sign language interpreter to work one on one with an elementary age student. The interpreter will play a crucial role in facilitating effective communication between students, educators, and staff members who use American Sign Language as their primary means of communication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide sign language interpretation and transliteration services during classroom instruction, meetings, and school activities.
- Foster effective communication between deaf or hard of hearing students and their peers, teachers, and staff members.
- Adapt communication style and level of support to meet the individual needs of students, ensuring their understanding and participation.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to support the academic and social development of students.
Minimum Qualifications:
- VQAS Level II or EIPA score 3.5+
- At least one year of interpreting experience is preferred
