• Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) or other appropriate sign systems and vice versa, ensuring accurate and effective communication.
• Collaborate with teachers, students, and other school personnel to support the educational needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
• Foster a positive and inclusive environment for students, promoting their independence and participation in classroom activities.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times, respecting students' privacy and personal information.
• Stay up-to-date with relevant policies, procedures, and best practices in the field of sign language interpretation.
• Attend professional development opportunities to enhance interpreting skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

• Possess fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of other sign systems.
• Hold a relevant sign language interpreting certification or licensure (e.g., National Interpreter Certification - NIC, Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf - RID).
• Demonstrate strong interpreting skills and the ability to accurately convey information in both sign language and spoken language.
• Prior experience as a sign language interpreter in an educational setting is preferred.
• Display excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, teachers, and school staff.
