Key Requirements:
- National Certification in Sign Language Interpretation
- EIP (Educational Interpreter Performance) score of 3.5 or higher
- Ability to provide recent fingerprint clearance and complete a drug screening
- Prior experience in academic or school-based settings preferred
- Comfortable working with elementary through high school populations
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with teachers, students, and staff
- Effective communication abilities, both spoken and signed
Role Responsibilities:
- Serve up to two students per assignment, primarily in elementary schools
- Travel as needed between school sites; most assignments are stationary with minimal itinerant duties
- Accurately interpret classroom instruction and interactions for deaf and hard-of-hearing students
- Support student participation in academics, activities, and school events
- Collaborate with educational teams to support students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding student and school information
- Complete documentation and all required compliance records in a timely manner
