Position: Sign Language Interpreter
Start Date: June 14, 2023
End Date: July 13, 2023 Hours: 16 per week
Days: Monday to Thursday
Specific Daily Hours: 7:05 am to 11:05 am (Off every Friday)
No Class on June 19th and July 4th
Caseload: 9th to 12th grade level
Other Info: Must have ISBE - PEL with Interpreter Approval, EIPA Score of 3.5 or above per IL EDU approval requirements, ability to comprehend sign language and effectively communicate in English, observe student behaviors and communicate performance to the teacher and support staff, collaborate with other staff in curriculum planning and implementation.

Additional Information for NSY (New School Year):

• NSY Schedule: August 21, 2023 - June 10, 2024
• Full-Time Position: 35 hours per week

Responsibilities of the Sign Language Interpreter may include, but are not limited to:

• Providing interpretation services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in a 9th to 12th-grade setting.
• Comprehending sign language, including inflections and intent, and simultaneously conveying the message in articulate and appropriate English.
• Observing student behaviors and performance, and effectively communicating student performance to the teacher and support staff.
• Collaborating with other staff members in planning, modifying, enhancing, and implementing curriculum and school objectives to ensure inclusive education for students.
• Adhering to the ISBE (Illinois State Board of Education) requirements for PEL (Professional Educator License) with Interpreter Approval.
