Sign Language Interpreter - Oklahoma City, OK

ProCare Therapy is currently seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Sign Language Interpreter to join our team for the upcoming 2023-24 school year. Responsibilities:

• Provide sign language interpretation services to students in a school setting, ensuring effective communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their teachers, peers, and other school staff.
• Interpret classroom lectures, discussions, and other educational activities, maintaining accuracy and clarity.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other professionals to develop and implement appropriate strategies to support students' academic and social development.
• Assist in the preparation and modification of instructional materials to meet the unique needs of students with hearing impairments.
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes equal access to education for all students.
• Maintain accurate records of interpreted sessions and student progress as required.

Requirements:

• Possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Sign Language Interpreting, Deaf Education, or a related field.
• Hold appropriate certification as a Sign Language Interpreter.
• Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of Deaf culture.
• Previous experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational setting is preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Valid state licensure or eligibility to obtain appropriate licensure in Oklahoma.
