Sign Language Interpreter - Oklahoma City, OK
ProCare Therapy is currently seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Sign Language Interpreter to join our team for the upcoming 2023-24 school year. - Provide sign language interpretation services to students in a school setting, ensuring effective communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their teachers, peers, and other school staff.
- Interpret classroom lectures, discussions, and other educational activities, maintaining accuracy and clarity.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other professionals to develop and implement appropriate strategies to support students' academic and social development.
- Assist in the preparation and modification of instructional materials to meet the unique needs of students with hearing impairments.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes equal access to education for all students.
- Maintain accurate records of interpreted sessions and student progress as required.
- Possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Sign Language Interpreting, Deaf Education, or a related field.
- Hold appropriate certification as a Sign Language Interpreter.
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of Deaf culture.
- Previous experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational setting is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Valid state licensure or eligibility to obtain appropriate licensure in Oklahoma.
