Sign Language Interpreter - School Setting - St. George, VT area

Soliant Education has partnered with a school district in the St. George, VT area to prescreen, interview, and hire a Sign Language Interpreter.
Position Overview: As a School-Based Sign Language Interpreter, you will play a crucial role in facilitating effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and other school staff. You will work closely with a elementary student, ensuring they have equal access to education and fostering a supportive learning environment. Interpreter can work with other students when student is not present.
Position Type: Full-Time, W2 contract
Responsibilities:
- Provide sign language interpretation services during classroom instruction, meetings, and school-related activities.
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure the effective integration of students with hearing impairments.
- Assist in the development of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and educational goals for students.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes communication and learning.
- Act as an advocate for students with hearing impairments and ensure their needs are met.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student progress and services provided.
Qualifications:
- Valid Sign Language Interpreter educational license -VT
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of educational and sign language interpreting techniques
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
