Are you a skilled and dedicated Sign Language Interpreter looking for an opportunity to support students who are deaf or hard of hearing in their educational journey? We have an exciting position available for a School-Based Sign Language Interpreter to join our team at a reputable educational institution in Modesto, CA. As a Sign Language Interpreter, you will play a crucial role in facilitating effective communication between students, teachers, and peers, ensuring equal access to educational opportunities.

Responsibilities:

• Provide interpretation services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in classroom settings, school activities, and events
• Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa, maintaining accuracy and clarity
• Assist students in understanding and participating in classroom discussions, lectures, and assignments
• Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure effective communication and educational support
• Adhere to professional and ethical standards of practice in interpreting
• Adapt interpretation techniques and strategies to meet the individual needs of students
• Support students in developing language skills, social interactions, and independence
• Maintain confidentiality and respect for students' privacy

Qualifications:

• Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (NIC, RID, or equivalent)
• Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and English
• Strong knowledge of Deaf culture and the needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
