Are you a skilled and compassionate Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) seeking an exciting opportunity to make a difference in the lives of students? Procare Therapy is currently hiring a talented SLI to join our team and provide crucial support to students with hearing impairments in Fort Wayne, Indiana, for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year.

Responsibilities:

As a School-Based Sign Language Interpreter, your primary responsibility will be to facilitate communication between students with hearing impairments and their teachers, classmates, and other school staff. You will ensure that the students have equal access to educational materials and are fully integrated into the school environment. Key responsibilities include:

• Providing sign language interpretation during classroom instruction, lectures, discussions, and other school activities.
• Assisting with communication during one-on-one sessions between students and teachers.
• Translating written materials into sign language for students as needed.
• Collaborating with the school's special education team and other professionals to support students' individual needs.
• Adhering to professional and ethical standards while maintaining confidentiality.
• Participating in school meetings and workshops related to students' education and progress.

Requirements:

• Possession of a valid SLI certification or relevant qualifications.
• Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledgeable about various sign language systems.
• Experience working with students who have hearing impairments or in a similar educational setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational abilities and the capability to work independently.
• Dedication to promoting inclusivity and advocating for students with hearing impairments.
