Procare Therapy is seeking a dedicated and skilled Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) to join our team for the 2023-2024 school year in La Grange, GA. As an SLI, you will play a vital role in facilitating communication and ensuring an inclusive learning environment for elementary school students who are deaf or hard of hearing. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' lives while collaborating with educators and professionals.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide sign language interpretation services to elementary school students in various educational settings, including classrooms, assemblies, and extracurricular activities.
  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to develop and implement effective communication strategies for students with hearing impairments.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment by ensuring effective communication between students, teachers, and peers.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions while adhering to ethical and educational standards.
  • Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and contribute insights on students' language and communication needs.
  • Continuously develop and enhance your sign language and interpreting skills to ensure accurate and effective communication.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with different sign systems.
  • Relevant certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (e.g., RID certification) preferred.
  • Experience working with elementary school students or in an educational setting is advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with students, educators, and parents.
  • Ability to adapt to varying communication styles and preferences.
  • Respect for diversity and a commitment to creating an inclusive environment for all students.
