Job Description: Soliant is currently seeking a Sign Language Interpreter to join our team in the Olympia, Puyallup, Spanaway, Sumner, Auburn, WA area for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year. This is a full-time position working with multiple age ranges in the school setting.

Responsibilities:

• Provide sign language interpreting services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in educational settings.
• Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and other school staff members using American Sign Language (ASL) or other sign language systems.
• Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, presentations, and other educational activities.
• Assist students in understanding and accessing educational materials, including written texts, visual aids, and online resources.
• Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to ensure students' access to a fully inclusive and equitable learning environment.
• Maintain professional and ethical standards in accordance with the Code of Professional Conduct for Sign Language Interpreters.
• Stay updated on current practices, trends, and technology in the field of sign language interpreting.

Requirements:

• Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter, with a minimum of a 3.5 Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score, Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification, or National Interpreter Certification (NIC).
• Previous experience working in school settings is preferred, with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
• Strong knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and other sign language systems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt to various age ranges and educational environments.
