SLI 23'-24' School Year Full Time

Blazerworks is excited to partner with a school district in Round Lake, IL and is currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Sign Language Interpreter to join our team on a full-time basis for the full school year. Responsibilities:

• Provide sign language interpretation services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and other educational activities for students
• Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and other school staff
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure effective communication in educational settings
• Assist with the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) for students
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interpreting assignments
• Stay updated on best practices and advancements in sign language interpretation

Requirements:

• Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
• Proven experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in an educational setting
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of various signing systems
• Strong understanding of deaf culture and the unique needs of individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
