SLI Needed for a School District in Huntsville, AL

Responsibilities:
- Provide sign language interpreting services to students with hearing impairments in various educational settings.
- Interpret classroom instruction, lectures, discussions, and other educational activities for students who use sign language as their primary mode of communication.
- Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, and other school personnel.
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure that instructional materials and assignments are accessible to students.
- Assist students in developing and improving their language and communication skills.
- Provide support during meetings, IEP conferences, and other school-related events as needed.
- Stay updated on best practices in sign language interpretation and maintain a high level of proficiency in sign language skills.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of interpreting services provided.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Sign Language Interpretation or a related field.
- RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) certification or equivalent certification as a sign language interpreter.
- Previous experience working as an SLI in an educational setting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of sign language systems, deaf culture, and educational terminology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate effective communication between students and educators.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for accurate documentation.
