Key Candidate Qualifications:
- Hold current EIPA 4.0 or higher, or RID certification
- Prior experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational or youth settings
- Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with professional interpreting skills
- High level of professionalism, dependability, and discretion
- Compassion and patience supporting diverse learning needs
- Ability to adapt to various classroom activities and changes in student routine
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 interpreting services for a student who is Deaf or hard of hearing throughout the school day
- Facilitate communication during classroom instruction, group projects, school events, and extra-curricular activities
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to optimize the student’s educational experience
- Ensure accurate, impartial, and confidential interpretation at all times
- Help foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment
- Participate in IEP (Individualized Education Program) meetings when needed
