Essential Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), with demonstrated interpreting experience in educational settings
- Experience working with students in grades K-5, 6-8, and 9-12
- Familiarity with the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process and collaboration with multidisciplinary school teams
- Ability to adapt communication style to the needs and developmental stages of students
- Relevant certification or licensure as required for educational interpreters
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct interpreting services in classrooms, small groups, and one-on-one settings
- Facilitate communication between students, peers, and school staff
- Aid in the understanding of instructional material and classroom interactions
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- Act as a positive advocate for student access and inclusion within the school community
- Attend and contribute to IEP meetings as needed
