Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Bellingham, WA
Step into a rewarding role supporting students and classrooms as a Sign Language Interpreter in a vibrant educational setting near Bellingham, WA. This full-time, onsite contract opportunity spans the 26/27 academic year, beginning August 19th and continuing through June 4th, 2027. You'll provide dedicated interpretation services to a student with American Sign Language needs in a classroom serving grades K through 12, ensuring clear communication and access to educational content.
Key Qualifications:
- Current Sign Language Interpreter certificate for Washington State
- Minimum 4.0 score on the EIPA
- Proven experience in educational environments, ideally supporting deaf or hard-of-hearing students
- Confidence working one-on-one and within a classroom setting
- Strong professional communication skills and a collaborative attitude
Responsibilities:
- Deliver precise and effective ASL interpretation between staff, the student, and peers within the assigned classroom
- Tailor communication strategies to the student's individual learning and social needs
- Maintain confidentiality and support the integrity of classroom instruction
- Foster engagement and active participation for the student throughout lessons and school activities
- Collaborate closely with teachers, specialists, and administrators to ensure seamless support
