Desired Qualifications:
- EIPA score of 3.0 or above, and either have applied for a Professional Educator License (PEL) or possess an active PEL to interpret in schools
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous experience in a school or educational setting preferred
- Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational abilities
- Patience, adaptability, and genuine care for the unique needs of DHH students
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time sign language interpretation for DHH students across academic and school-related activities
- Facilitate clear communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers
- Prepare for classroom lessons in advance to ensure subject matter understanding
- Collaborate with educators to adapt classroom materials and meet individual student needs
- Maintain confidentiality and follow all relevant policies for student privacy
- Participate in IEP (Individualized Education Program) meetings and contribute insights into student progress
