Desired Qualifications:
- Valid licensure to practice as a Sign Language Interpreter
- American Sign Language Proficiency Interview (ASLPI) score of 4.1 or higher
- Previous experience in a 1:1 pediatric or school-based setting
- Strong understanding of the educational needs of children who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in a school environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 ASL interpretation services to a pediatric student throughout the school day, adapting communication style as needed
- Accurately facilitate communication between the student and educators, peers, and support staff
- Collaborate with the educational team to ensure a fully inclusive learning environment
- Support the student’s individual education plan (IEP) and adapt to various classroom settings
- Monitor student progress and communicate relevant feedback to the team
