Embark on a rewarding opportunity to support students as a Sign Language Interpreter for the upcoming academic year! This full-time contract position begins on August 24, 2026, and concludes on July 15, 2027, offering up to five openings to join a collaborative team. Your work environment will feature dedicated professionals, including DHH specialists and additional classroom support, ensuring a dynamic and supportive atmosphere.
While priority is given to in-person roles, consideration will also be given to qualified candidates interested in hybrid and virtual arrangements.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with experience interpreting in educational settings.
- Valid licensure/certification required for school-based interpreting.
- Previous experience working with Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHH) students is highly desirable.
- Strong collaboration skills to work alongside educators and classroom support staff.
- Ability to adapt to varying caseloads and instructional needs as assignments are finalized.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret and translate spoken language into sign language for K-12 students and staff in classroom and school environments.
- Collaborate closely with DHH professionals and other support staff to facilitate inclusive education.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
- Adjust interpreting approach as needed to best support individual learner needs and varying subject matter.
- Support communication during instructional activities, meetings, and school events as assigned.
