Key Qualifications:
- 4.0 EIPA score or holds RID certification
- Demonstrated fluency in ASL and strong understanding of Deaf culture
- Previous experience interpreting in educational settings, particularly with middle school students, is highly valued
- Professionalism, adaptability, and clear communication skills
- Culturally responsive and sensitive to student needs
Responsibilities:
- Provide sign language interpretation for students, staff, and families during classroom instruction, meetings, assemblies, and extracurricular activities
- Foster inclusive learning by facilitating communication between Deaf/hard-of-hearing students and their peers or teachers
- Adhere to ethical and professional guidelines for educational interpreting
- Prepare for assignments by reviewing lesson content and materials ahead of time
- Collaborate with teachers, special education teams, and support staff to best meet students' communication needs
- Maintain confidentiality and accurate records as required
