1:1 Pediatric 1:1 Sign Language Interpreter in Des Moines, IA

Make a meaningful impact working one-on-one with a pediatric student as a Sign Language Interpreter for a full-time, on-site contract role near Des Moines, IA. Qualifications:
- Current licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Achieved an ASLPI score of 4.1 or higher
- Experience in a 1:1 pediatric educational setting preferred
- Strong understanding of Deaf culture and effective interpreting strategies
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with educators, families, and school staff
- Commitment to maintaining student confidentiality and ethical standards
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct interpretation between American Sign Language and spoken English for one pediatric student, ensuring clear and accurate communication
- Support the student's participation in classroom activities, instruction, and school events
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and service providers to facilitate student learning and inclusion
- Prepare for classroom content and adapt interpreting techniques to meet the student's individual needs
- Maintain documentation and participate in team meetings related to student progress and accommodations
