Key Qualifications:
- Demonstrated fluency and proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Prior experience interpreting in K–12 educational settings preferred
- VQAS Level III or an EIPA score of 3.5 or higher may be required (final requirements pending)
- Willingness to initiate the VA Department of Social Services background screening immediately
- Valid, up-to-date TB test per Virginia state requirements
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide on-site interpreting services for students, staff, and families, adapting to diverse communication needs
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all assignments
- Support classroom instruction, school activities, IEP meetings, and related engagements
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to facilitate access and participation for deaf and hard-of-hearing students
- Potentially work in multiple schools, depending on needs and scheduling
