Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with proven experience in educational interpreting
- National or state certification as a Sign Language Interpreter preferred
- Previous experience working with children or in a K-12 school environment highly valued
- Ability to work full-time, onsite, with a start time of 7:40 AM
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Commitment to professionalism, confidentiality, and student advocacy
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver accurate, age-appropriate interpretation between spoken English and ASL for an elementary student throughout the school day
- Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and school staff to ensure effective access to instruction and activities
- Support the student's academic and social-emotional development by facilitating clear and supportive communication
- Adapt interpreting techniques to meet the evolving needs of the student and classroom context
- Maintain confidential records and participate in relevant meetings as requested
