The role centers on facilitating communication between DHH (Deaf and Hard of Hearing) students, classroom staff, and educational teams to ensure an inclusive and supportive environment. While in-person availability is the current priority, hybrid and virtual candidates will also be considered.
Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and current Sign Language Interpreter certification/licensure
- Experience supporting students or clients in educational settings, especially with DHH populations, is highly desirable
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team that includes DHH specialists and other classroom support professionals
- Strong interpersonal skills and a patient, flexible approach to communication
- Capable of adapting to changing caseloads and school assignments
- Professional references and proof of licensure required at the interview stage
Responsibilities Include:
- Providing direct sign language interpretation during classroom instruction and extracurricular activities
- Collaborating closely with educators, DHH specialists, and other support staff
- Ensuring clear, accurate communication and supporting student access to curriculum and school activities
- Participating in ongoing team meetings and contributing to the development of best practices for supporting DHH students
