Exciting contract opportunities are available for skilled Sign Language Interpreters to support students and professionals in an educational setting near Eugene, OR. With up to five full-time spots open, you'll become a vital part of a collaborative team, working alongside Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) staff and other dedicated classroom support professionals. Anticipated assignment dates span from 8/24/26 through 7/15/27, with in-person interpreters highly prioritized, though applicants interested in hybrid or virtual work are also encouraged to apply.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Current certification and licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Demonstrated experience interpreting in educational environments, preferably within schools
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and additional manual communication systems
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team supporting DHH students
- Adaptability for in-person, virtual, or hybrid interpretation depending on placement needs
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Primary Responsibilities:
- Accurately interpret spoken and signed communication for students, staff, and parents in classroom and campus activities
- Foster inclusive educational experiences by ensuring clear and effective communication access
- Collaborate with DHH staff and classroom support to tailor accommodations based on student needs
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical practices in all interpreting tasks
- Participate in team meetings, trainings, and any required professional development
