Desired Qualifications:
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) required
- Experience interpreting in educational settings is a plus
- Holds, or is eligible to obtain, either VQAS Level III or a 3.5 EIPA score (final requirements pending)
- Comfortable adapting to different age groups and changing assignments
- Ability to travel to schools throughout Northern Virginia as needed
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate, impartial interpretation for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in academic, extracurricular, and social settings
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to deliver effective support
- Adjust interpreting techniques to fit K-12 classroom environments and age ranges
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional interpreting standards
- Promptly complete required credentialing, such as the Virginia Dept. of Social Services background check and TB test
