Key Qualifications:
- Hold a valid South Carolina Sign Language Interpreter (SC SLI) license
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and comprehensive understanding of interpreting techniques
- Demonstrated experience in educational or school settings preferred
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions
- Must be available for onsite work throughout the assignment period
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and effective sign language interpretation between students, staff, and educators
- Facilitate classroom learning by ensuring access to all verbal and auditory information
- Support individual and group communication needs as assigned by the school's educational team
- Participate in relevant meetings, trainings, and development sessions
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and administrators to promote student success
- Foster a positive, inclusive atmosphere through cultural understanding and ethical interpreting practices
