Make a meaningful impact as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting students in school settings near Grayslake, IL. Two contract-based opportunities are available serving a dedicated student population, providing critical communication access in the classroom and supporting inclusion. Both positions are onsite only.
Position 1:
- Located at John Powers Center in Vernon Hills
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 am–3:00 pm
- Duration: ASAP start through May 28, 2027
Position 2:
- Located at Grayslake North High School
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–12:00 pm
- Duration: ASAP start through May 20, 2027
Requirements:
- Valid certification: EIPA score of 3.5 or higher with Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Approval, or EIPA score of 3.0–3.4 with ISBE Interim Approval.
- BEI, ISAS, CI/CT, or NIC credentials also accepted, provided ISBE Approval.
- Proven skills in American Sign Language interpretation for classroom settings.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate communication between students, staff, and the school community.
- Professionalism, punctuality, and collaborative spirit.
In this role, you will:
- Provide interpretation for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, ensuring full access to educational content.
- Translate spoken language into sign language and vice versa during classroom instruction and activities.
- Support student learning and participation within both individual and group environments.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all ethical standards related to educational interpreting.
- Effectively partner with teachers, staff, and families to support each student’s success.
