Step into a rewarding contract assignment as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting a middle school student transitioning from Colorado. This full-time position offers an impactful, one-on-one opportunity within a supportive school environment, serving a student in general education classes throughout the day, except for a designated period with a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing for IEP services. The position runs immediately through the end of May 2027, with school start and end times ranging between approximately 8:00 am – 3:45 pm, depending on the finalized campus.
Desired qualifications for this role include:
- EIPA score of 3.5 or above (per current, non-negotiable South Carolina state requirements)
- Successful completion of the written EIPA exam
- Minimum of a high school diploma
- Ability to pass a background check
- Willingness to sign the Sign Language Interpreter Code of Ethics during onboarding
Key responsibilities:
- Provide continuous, dedicated communication support to a middle school student in all general education settings, fostering access to instruction, engagement, and peer interaction
- Collaborate with educational staff and teachers to optimize the student’s experience and learning environment
- Maintain adherence to professional interpreting standards and confidentiality protocols
- Support the student’s participation both academically and socially throughout the school day, except for specialized DHH sessions
