Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Greer, SC

Make a meaningful impact supporting a middle school student’s education as a contract Sign Language Interpreter for the remainder of the school year. This full-time position offers an opportunity to provide consistent 1:1 interpreting services for a transfer student in general education classes, except during a daily dedicated session with the DHH teacher for IEP-related needs. School location will be at either Tanglewood Middle School or Beck International Academy in the Greenville area with a standard school schedule, running through May 27th, 2027.
Qualifications:
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher (required by new South Carolina state guidelines)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of the written EIPA test
- Ability to pass a background check
- Willingness to sign the professional SLI Code of Ethics during onboarding
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 sign language interpretation services for a middle school student throughout the school day
- Interpret for all general education classroom activities (excluding a 70-minute period with the DHH teacher)
- Maintain confidentiality, ethical standards, and a supportive learning environment
- Collaborate with teachers and special education staff to best support the student’s access to curriculum and communication needs
- Adhere to district and state policy guidelines for educational interpreters
This contract assignment follows either an 8:15am – 3:30pm or 8:00am – 3:45pm schedule, depending on final school assignment, for approximately 37.5 hours per week.
