Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficiency in sign language interpreting (sign to voice and voice to sign).
- Certification by the National Registry of Interpreters of the Deaf, OR a score of 4.0 or above on the EIPA, ESSE-I/R, or NAD/ACCI assessment.
- Candidates with an EIPA score under 4.0 will be considered and designated as ASL Para.
- Experience working in school settings, preferably with middle or high school students.
- Ability to assist students academically and support their development in reading, writing, math, and vocational/life skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities for collaboration with teachers and other school personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate communication and educational access between deaf/hard of hearing students and their hearing peers and educators.
- Interpret dialogues and instructions in classrooms and during school activities, indoor and outdoor.
- Support students during academic lessons and community-based activities, including monitoring and assistance as needed.
- Adapt to both classroom environments and vocational/living skills instruction.
- Flexibility to indicate preference for either middle or high school assignments.
Benefits:
