Key Qualifications:
- Valid South Carolina Sign Language Interpreter (SC SLI) license required
- Prior experience in a school setting is highly desirable
- Strong fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Ability to work collaboratively with educators, administrators, and students
- Professional, punctual, and adaptable to changing needs within the school environment
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding student rights
Role Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language to ASL and vice versa for students, teachers, and educational staff
- Facilitate classroom communication to promote equal access and participation for deaf and hard-of-hearing students
- Support diverse learning environments, including small groups, one-on-one, and large classroom settings
- Work closely with educational teams to address student needs and aid in Individualized Education Program (IEP) implementation
- Remain on-site throughout scheduled hours (37.5 per week)
- Maintain accurate records and documentation as required by the school
