Key Qualifications:
- Valid South Carolina Sign Language Interpreter (SC SLI) certification required
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous experience as a sign language interpreter within educational settings preferred
- Strong ability to facilitate clear communication between Deaf/Hard of Hearing students, staff, and peers
- Professionalism, reliability, and excellent interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working onsite at the school location as assigned
Primary Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken and signed communication in classrooms, meetings, and school activities
- Adapt interpreting style to meet the unique needs of individual students and situations
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, special education staff, and support personnel
- Maintain accuracy, confidentiality, and impartiality in every interaction
- Assist with fostering an inclusive educational environment
- Remain flexible to adjust assignments within school locations as needed
