Qualifications:
- Current Sign Language Interpreter certification and credentials
- Minimum score of 3.5 or above on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA)
- Proven experience interpreting within school settings is preferred
- Up-to-date understanding of educational terminology, classroom protocols, and confidentiality standards
- Strong technical skills for seamless virtual service delivery
- Full-time availability
Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language for deaf and hard-of-hearing students during classes, meetings, and school-related activities in a virtual setting
- Use American Sign Language and other methods adapting to students’ needs
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to ensure accurate and confidential communication
- Provide clear, accurate, and impartial interpretation between students and non-signing individuals
- Maintain documentation and uphold ethical standards of the interpreting profession
- Troubleshoot and resolve basic technical issues on virtual platforms
