This contract position offers a unique opportunity to provide consistent support to a student at Chaffee Elementary School while working closely with the educational team.
Key Highlights:
- Full-time contract through May 28, 2027, ensuring stability and the chance to build lasting connections
- 1:1 assignment at Chaffee Elementary, providing dedicated support to one student
- Regular school hours: 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM, Monday–Friday, totaling 40 hours per week
- Consistent schedule—late arrivals, early departures, or altered hours cannot be accommodated
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current Alabama SLI/Interpreter license or permit required
- Recognized interpreting certification (RID, EIPA, BEI, etc.) strongly preferred
- Previous experience providing sign language interpretation in a school setting is highly valued
- Experience with 1:1 student support preferred
- Demonstrated reliable attendance and commitment to completing full assignments
- Ability to collaborate with educational staff and maintain professionalism throughout the assignment
Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality, accurate interpreting services for a designated student during the entire school day
- Support the educational, social, and emotional needs of the student through effective communication facilitation
- Partner with teachers, specialists, and school staff to ensure complete integration within the classroom environment
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards consistent with professional interpreting guidelines
