In this full-time, contract role, you will play a vital part in helping a young learner thrive, ensuring clear communication and fostering inclusion throughout the entire school day.
What We’re Looking For:
- Active Alabama SLI/Interpreter license or permit (required)
- Recognized interpreting certification preferred (RID, EIPA, BEI, or similar)
- Prior experience in school-based or educational settings is highly valued
- Background in providing 1:1 interpreting support to students is a plus
- Exceptional commitment to reliable attendance and fulfilling the complete school year schedule (through May 28, 2027)
- Strong collaboration skills and a team-oriented mindset
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver 1:1 interpreting services to a student during all classroom and school-based activities (40 hours/week, 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM)
- Facilitate meaningful and accessible communication between the student, peers, and educational staff
- Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and school teams to provide tailored support throughout the school day
- Maintain the highest professional and ethical standards in all interpreting situations
- Support the student’s academic, emotional, and social development by creating a positive and inclusive experience
