Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a licensed Sign Language Interpreter in a welcoming school environment just outside Jacksonville, AR. This full-time, on-site contract position is a wonderful opportunity for traveling professionals passionate about pediatric education and American Sign Language (ASL).
In this role, you’ll work directly in a 1:1 capacity, providing essential communication access and fostering an inclusive experience for your assigned student. Your skills will empower learners to participate fully in classroom activities and build confidence in their abilities.
What you’ll need to succeed:
- Valid licensure and credentials as a Sign Language Interpreter
- ASLPI score of 4.1 or higher required
- Strong background interpreting for school-aged children, ideally pediatric or 1:1 experience
- Sensitivity and commitment to upholding student confidentiality
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills with educators and families
- Willingness to work on-site, in a full-time capacity
Key responsibilities:
- Provide direct, accurate ASL interpretation between the student, peers, and school staff
- Facilitate classroom participation, both in academic and social settings
- Adhere to IEP accommodations, and adapt interpreting techniques to meet individual needs
- Support a positive, inclusive learning environment
- Work closely with the special education team to align on student strategies and goals
