Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and strong interpreting skills
- Previous experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational environments, especially with DHH students
- Comfortable facilitating one-on-one communication between student and staff
- Ability to collaborate with educators and support staff to enhance the student’s academic and social experience
- Certification or state licensure for Sign Language Interpreters preferred
- Professionalism and sensitivity in an academic setting
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide seamless, accurate interpretation for one DHH student during classes, activities, and interactions throughout the school day
- Assist with classroom instruction and foster full participation of the student in all educational activities
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure accessible learning and communication
- Maintain confidentiality and support a nurturing, inclusive learning environment
- Address the unique needs and progress of the student, adapting interpreting style as necessary
