Sign Language Interpreter in Katy, TX

This contract opportunity runs from August 12, 2026, through May 27, 2027, providing a consistent weekly schedule of Monday through Thursday, offering approximately 26 hours per week.
You'll be working in a high school behavioral classroom setting, interpreting for a 9th grade student with unique communication needs. The student uses cochlear implants, hearing aids, and an ALD device. While he identifies as hearing, his speech is not easily understood, and he is currently transitioning from a Residential Day School Program, requiring thoughtful, adaptable support during instructional hours only. Lunch breaks and arrival/dismissal periods are excluded from interpreting duties.
Desired Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in school settings
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students who have diverse hearing/communication needs
- Experience supporting behavioral classrooms or working with students adapting to new educational environments is highly valued
- Valid and current licensure/certification to interpret in educational settings
- Professionalism, dependability, and strong interpersonal communication skills
