Sign Language Interpreter in Kingsley, MI

Responsibilities:
- Provide in-person sign language interpreting and transliteration services to support a young student in the classroom
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to facilitate communication and ensure inclusion across all educational settings
- Adapt interpreting techniques and instructional approaches to meet the unique learning needs of a language-deprived student
- Create a supportive, encouraging environment that fosters both language and social-emotional growth
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards in all interactions
- Assist with basic ASL instruction when needed and help staff build capacity in deaf education best practices
Desired Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language and a strong understanding of deaf culture
- EIPA score of 4.0; candidates with slightly lower scores are welcome to apply and may qualify for a temporary certificate after discussion
- Experience in educational settings, particularly working with students with language deprivation, is highly valued
- Strong communication, patience, and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
